About Us
The Jakab Antal House is situated just 3 kilometers away from the center of Miercurea Ciuc, in the inmediate vicinity of the Sumuleu-Ciuc Pilgrimage Church and the Franciscan monastery. The house offers accomodation and dining services for pilgrims and groups in an idyllic and peaceful environment, and also place for conferences, professional trainings or spiritual events.
The Jakab Antal House in Șumuleu Ciuc/Csíksomlyó (Miercurea Ciuc) was opened twenty years ago. Since then it has given place for several national and international conferences, cultural and spiritual events. Since 2016 it is maintained by Caritas Alba Iulia, and named after the bishop of the county, who founded the diocese's charity in 1990.
The Jakab Antal House offers accommodation and catering for 130 guests at a favorable price.
Our guests with reduced mobility can stay in barrier-free rooms.
The restaurant is open every day from 11:30 to 18:00, with a daily menu available from 13:00.
Meetings, lectures and various events with the participation of up to 120 people can be organized in the Kalot building, which is declared a monument belonging to the Jakab Antal house, and is equipped to meet all needs and equipped with technical equipment. There are a total of 12 conference rooms of different sizes available.
The Jakab Antal House is a protected unit, which means that it provides jobs for people with disabilities.
According to the information material issued by ANAF, the following excerpt is published below:
'Employers shall have the option of deciding to pay 50% of the monthly contribution to the Disability Fund for products and services produced by persons with disabilities employed in authorised protected units.
In accordance with Article 78(3) of the Act. Under Decree No 448/2006, companies, but also public authorities or state-owned enterprises with at least 50 employees, are obliged to employ persons with disabilities in a proportion of at least 4% of the total workforce.
Otherwise, they can choose one of the following obligations:
a) (a) pay to the state budget each month an amount corresponding to the guaranteed minimum gross basic wage per country (from 1 January 2025, its value is 4050 lei according to Decree No 935/2019), multiplied by the number of jobs in which people with disabilities were not employed;
or or pay monthly to the State budget an amount equal to at least 50% of the guaranteed gross basic salary per country, multiplied by the number of jobs in which persons with disabilities were not employed and by the amount representing the difference up to the level of the amount specified in point (a), in order to obtain it on a partnership basis, persons with disabilities employed in authorised protected establishments shall be subject to their own activities products or services produced by the European Union.'
In principle, the amount of contributions payable by employers to the disability fund will not change each month, but employers may choose to spend half of the amount due on the purchase of products and services produced by the disabled persons employed in protected units, so only 50% of the amount will be transferred to the state budget.

Restaurant
The restaurant can accommodate 120-130 guests. Three smaller rooms are available for private or small group meals. The large room is an excellent venue for larger events.
The restaurant is open every day from 11:30 to 18:00, with a daily menu available from 13:00. The menu includes two types of soup and main courses, with a meat-free option for vegetarians. During the warmer seasons you can dine on the terrace, and the café in the main building is open all day for our guests.
