About Us

Operated by Caritas Alba Iulia since 2016, Jakab Antal House offers accommodation, dining services and well-equipped conference rooms for individual guests, pilgrims and groups.

The peaceful surroundings of Șumuleu Ciuc provide an ideal setting for conferences, training sessions, spiritual retreats, as well as community and family programmes. The House is named after former bishop Jakab Antal, who founded Caritas Alba Iulia in 1990.

Accommodation and dining

Jakab Antal House can accommodate and provide meals for up to 130 guests.

Our restaurant is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The pilgrim menu is available from 1:00 p.m. in both traditional and gluten- and lactose-free versions. Dishes from the two menu options cannot be combined.

Accessible options

Accessible rooms are available for guests with reduced mobility, while our restaurant and several event rooms are also wheelchair accessible.

Conferences and events

Jakab Antal House has 10 conference rooms of various sizes, equipped with modern technical facilities. They are suitable for small meetings, training sessions, conferences and larger events.

Dining

Our restaurant can accommodate 120–130 guests. Three private dining rooms are available for smaller gatherings or private meals, while the main dining hall is an ideal venue for larger events.

We are open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our buffet-style pilgrim menu is available from 1:00 p.m. and includes two soups and two main courses, with a meat-free option offered every day. The menu is available in both traditional and gluten- and lactose-free versions.

During the warmer months, guests can also dine on the terrace. The café in the main building is open throughout the day for guests staying at the House.
